How do I check live train running status?
Use our Live Train Status tool. Enter the 5-digit train number and press Check. The tool shows the last known station, next scheduled station, current delay, and updated arrival/departure times for all upcoming stations — live from Indian Railways.
Is live train status data available for all trains?
Live status is available for most long-distance and express trains. Some local passenger trains, MEMU, and DEMU services may have limited or no live data. Long-distance express trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Mail/Express trains are well-covered.
What does "Source Departed" mean in train status?
"Source Departed" means the train has left its origin station. The live status begins updating once the train departs from the source. Before this, status may show "Expected to depart at [time]" or similar.
Why is the live status delayed or inaccurate?
Live status data is sourced from Indian Railways' NTES (National Train Enquiry System). Delays in status updates can occur due to: GPS coverage gaps in remote areas, station reporting delays, or temporary API issues. Data is typically 5–15 minutes behind actual train position.
Can I track which platform my train will arrive on?
Platform information is available in some cases via our Coach Position tool which also includes platform data. For live platform announcements, the best source is the station's public address system.
